Board of Trustee Biographies…

Sally Van Riper Eller, President: Board member since 2006. Sally has been a resident of Ovid and Romulus all her life, although she lived, raised a family, and worked in Maryland for 30 years. She’s enjoyed her years on the Board of the Ford Library very much and look forward to the exciting growth of the library. She presently lives on the west shore of Cayuga lake, not far from where she grew up.

Sally Limoncelli, Vice President: Board member since 2004. Resident of Lodi. Special interests: helping library run efficiently, increasing our collections, encouraging people to use and volunteer for the library. A mother, grandmother, wife, and breast cancer survivor, Sally loves reading, gardening, cooking, baking, biking, walking, and volunteering. She belongs to Lodi and Ovid book clubs, Lodi Historical Society, Lodi Garden Club, and is an usher and Eucharist Minister at Holy Cross Church. Enjoys the view of Seneca Lake from their beach. “Life is an ongoing education.”

Mark Jauquet, Treasurer: Board member since 2006. Resident of Romulus. Mark brings to the library a special interest in technology. He has been a lecturer at Cornell University’s Center for Learning and Teaching since 2002. He teaches in the Mathematics Department, and his interests include assisting under-represented minority students and students from low-income families in adapting to and excelling in the University setting.

Jean Currie, Secretary : Board member since 2011. Until she retired in 2008, Jean was the Executive Director of the South Central Regional Library Council, a multi-type library consortium serving libraries in a fourteen county area of upstate New York. From 2009-2010 Jean acted as the Interim Director of The History Center in Tompkins County. She grew up and was educated in New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the U.S. Jean Lived in Newfield from 1979 to 1992 and since then in the Kidders area of the Town of Ovid. She worked at both Cornell and the South Central Regional Library Council. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Canterbury University in Christchurch, New Zealand and a Diploma of Library Science from the NZ Library School.

Judy Dresser: Board member since July 2009. Judy was born in Hawaii, then at the age of two moved with her family to Portland, Oregon, where she grew up. She graduated from Oregon State University, worked in Portland for a couple of years, then joined the Foreign Service of the U.S. State Department and worked as a foreign service secretary at the United States Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. She likes to walk, play tennis, ski, and swim and kayak on Cayuga Lake in the summer.

Barbara Gerlach: Board member since 2005. Has been using and valuing public libraries for over seventy years. Especially enjoyed the “library dates” when in college.

David Griffith: Board member since the late 1970s. Maintains the building and grounds to provide a clean, safe environment for learning. In 2006 was named Trustee of the Year for the whole of the Finger Lakes Library System.

Honorine Rock: Board member since 2007. Retired from the Accounting Department of Eastman Kodak and lives in the Chamberlain family home in the Town of Romulus. Honorine is a past District Deputy or the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of DAR, 20th Century Club, and Ovid and Romulus Historical Societies. She enjoys reading, baking, knitting, and spending time with her loved ones. She worked in a small village library in her early teens, was a volunteer in the Hector Reading Center, and will work very hard to help promote our beautiful library in every way.

Kevin Mannella: Board member since 2012. Kevin Mannella has been a resident of the Town of Ovid and the co-proprietor of the Hayward House Bed&Breakfast since 2004.  Kevin was born in Pittsburgh, PA, graduated from Pennsylvania State University, and worked for 14 years in the vocational rehabilitation field. Kevin and his wife, Michele, were drawn to the Finger Lakes area by the great potential for tourism, the beautiful landscape, and the rich history of the region.   When not renovating or repairing his circa 1880 farmhouse, Kevin works as an administrator at Cornell University, and volunteers at Lifetime Care Hospice.  Kevin is especially interested in library accessibility, long-term financial stability, and positioning the library as a community focus and resource for all residents of the towns it serves.

Ashly Bullivant: Board member since 2011. She is the student member of the board. She goes to South Seneca High School. She started volunteering when she was is 6th grade and has been with us ever since. She loves reading, baking, cheer leading, and color guard. She also sings in her school chorus and jazz choir. She enjoys helping out her community in any way she can.
