Paid Positions

Teen Tech Intern

The Edith B. Ford Memorial Library is seeking a Teen Intern to work with our IT Specialist to create technology-related activities for children and young teens. The Intern will work with youth to select activities; plan, execute and evaluate technology programs; and provide assistance with social media.

This is a ten week position, June 24-August 30. Scheduled hours are Wednesdays, 2-6pm and Fridays, 1-5pm.

Requirements:

  • Experience with technology
  • Interest in education/ leadership/ working with kids/ creating and teaching innovative programs for kids based
    on your interests
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to receive/follow instructions
  • Must be self-motivated and able to stay on task without direct supervision
  • Must be 16-18 years old, have a way of transportation to/from the library, must be reliable, on time, and must have the ability to keep supervisor notified about vacations and time off.

Volunteer Positions

BOOK Coverer: We are seeking an individual who likes precision as well as crafting to help with covering our new books. (Ages 16+)

Responsibilities: Bi-monthly commitment for an hour or 2. 

STORYTIME Reader: We are seeking energetic readers to commit to a once-a-month storytime on Fridays. (Ages 18+)

Responsibilities: Plan and prepare a 1-hour storytime (20 min. reading; 20 min. craft/game; 20 min. snack time). The library will assist in acquiring materials and snacks. 

TEEN STORYTIME Assistant: We are seeking a youth helper to assist in our weekly storytime on Fridays.  (Ages 13-18)

Responsibilities: Set up and clean up, assist in reading (if desired), we will implement any skills that the youth has (puppets, crafts, etc.) Must have a desire to work with little ones. 

FORGE Monitor: We are seeking an organized individual to keep our craft space tidy, clean, and organized. (Ages 16+)

Responsibilities: Familiarize yourself with items in storage and how things are organized. Commit to a once-a-week thorough cleaning of the space. Create lists of items needing replacement or attending to by library staff. 

TALENT/SKILL Teacher: Have a talent or skill that you would like to share? We are seeking individuals to come and teach classes / workshops / talks / etc.
