The Local History Collection and Archives Room will be available June 1, 2019 for research. If special assistance is required, the archivist is available on Tuesday and Wednesday from 12:00-5:00. Genealogy questions should be directed to monica@ovidlibrary.org.

The Local History Archives Room has two microfilm readers and microfilmed editions of the Ovid Bee and Ovid Gazette through 1977. Physical copies of the Ovid Gazette are available for research from 1983 to the present. All items in the archives are non-circulating. The Willard Psychiatric Center Collection contains a rare collection of photographs, scrapbooks, employee
newsletters, and some oral histories of former Willard employees.

The Local History Collection has recently increased significantly and our local yearbook collection, now includes yearbooks from Ovid High School, Interlaken High School, the South Seneca School Falcon and the Romulus High School Arrowhead. Currently we are scanning some years of the Ovid Gazette which will be searchable on NYS Historic Newspapers at nyshistoricnewspapers.org.

With a grant for the Bernard Carl and Shirley Rosen Library Fund through the Community Foundation of Tompkins County, BLAST provided opportunities for SSCSD 3rd and 5th graders and RCSD 3rd and 6th graders to learn about local history using primary documents.

We are proud contributors to New York Heritage.
